Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday met leaders of the poll-bound states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand to discuss the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections.

Gandhi took stock of the political situation in Uttar Pradesh during discussions with party general secretary Digvijaya Singh, union coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal and spokesman Rashid Alvi.
She discussed strategies to tackle Punjab elections with former chief minister and state Congress president Amarinder Singh, former PCC chief Mohinder Singh Kaypee, union ministers Ambika Soni, Ashwini Kumar and others.
Union minister Harish Rawat, Uttarakhand Congress president Yashpal Arya, Vijay Bahuguna, Satpal Mahraj and Harak Singh Rawat also met her.
Meanwhile, a delegation of All India Barelvi Ulema Action Committee, led by Jaiswal, met Rahul Gandhi demanding greater representation for Muslims in the UP polls.
After the meeting, Maulana Senabil Reza Khan said the delegation told Gandhi about the "discrimination" the Barelvi Muslims were facing in the political arena.
