Under the Ministry of Water Resources, the UYRB regulates sharing of water between riparian states of the Yamuna.

On Thursday, while Delhi claimed Haryana curtailed supply to Haiderpur WTP, Haryana claimed it had given Delhi its due share.

Chief ministers and chief secretaries too have met over the issue of the additional 80 MGD of water that Delhi claims to be its gainful savings after it paid for the concrete lining of Munak channel. Haryana terms the amount its own share.

The issue is pending with a Group of Ministers (GoM).

“Delhi’s or Haryana’s claim cannot be looked at in isolation. They need to come on one table and have a dialogue,” Rajesh Kumar, chairperson, UYRB, said, after inspecting Munak CLC.
