Will Congress manage to get all seven seats in Delhi?

Will Congress be able to shake off the saffron challenge in Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections riding the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s spectacular victory in the Assembly polls?

The debate goes on in the political circles as Congress is trying hard to make the Jagdish Tytler-Sajjan Kumar episode a thing of past in the wake of shoe-throwing incident.

Local leaders, however, agree that it will be no cake-walk for the party to win all seven seats in Delhi in view of a variety of factors including the delimitation of constituencies that have brought in changing social equations.

In 2004 general elections, Congress led by Dikshit made mincemeat of the saffron challenge with BJP able to win only the South Delhi seat with its veteran VK Malhotra emerging victorious.

In other seats, it was Congress all the way in the back of the victory in the Assembly polls of 2003.

Delhi, once known as the stronghold of the erstwhile Jan Sangh and for sometime the BJP, has turned Congress for the past 11 years and this election will again witness a tussle between the two major parties for dominance.
