A 30-year-old woman, who was found strangled at her workplace in the national capital, was not sexually assaulted, police said on Tuesday.

The body of Geeta, a helper at the Infolite Coaching Institute in Lajpat Nagar, was found on the terrace of the building which houses her institute as well as In-flight Air Hostess Training Institute last night.

There were strangulation marks on her neck, the police said, adding, a case has been registered in this regard. The institute provides coaching to students seeking admission in Sainik Schools. A post mortem was conducted which did not confirm sexual assault.

The body was discovered by one Rahul, who told police that he had given the room keys to Geeta in last evening and asked her to take care of the laundry.

"When he returned around, he found the door to the terrace locked. He knocked on the door repeatedly and after sometime a man opened the door who said Geeta was upstairs in the washroom," a senior police official said.

Rahul went to the bathroom on the terrace and saw Geeta lying motionless after which he immediately called his other friends and the police. Geeta was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

A native of Nepal, Geeta was residing in Garhi area along with her husband Kishan, who is a driver, and six children.
