This takes the total number of seats to 49,000.

Despite the increase, the number of applicants would still be double the number of seats — 92,758 students had applied for 42,000 seats last year.

“The university will have 7,000 more seats this year after implementing 18 per cent OBC quota,” said S.K. Vij, Dean (Students Welfare).

The common admission forms will be available from June 1-15.

“The admission process is the same as last year,” said Vij. “There will be 10 centres across Delhi for the sale and receipt for admission forms.”

The entrance exam for BA (Hons) English has also made a comeback as Common Aptitude Test for English.

“It is a pilot test in which 12 colleges are participating. The test will carry 70 per cent weightage and the best of four subjects will carry 30 per cent weightage,” said Vij. “Colleges not participating will not be allowed to hold individual tests.”
