"I will consider myself to be a great teacher only when I am capable of elevating the average student to high performance and when no student is left out as a non-performer," was one of the ten points in an oath that Kalam administered to the awardees on the occasion of Teacher's Day.

The President also advised the students to organise and conduct their life, in such a way that their life itself became a message for students. The President also used the opportunity to share his emotions about his three most favourite teachers with the awardees.

He said all of them were ideal teachers for an eager young mind who was uncertain of the possibilities and alternatives that lay before him or her. Kalam said that he learnt from them to succeed in life and achieve results.

One must understand and master 'three mighty forces- desire, belief and expectations," he said. Speaking on the occasion, Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh said the government was committed to providing opportunities for good education to students.
