The registration process for BITSAT, a computer-based online test for admission to integrated first degree programmes of the institute, is currently underway. These integrated programmes include BE (hons) chemical, civil, computer science, electrical and electronics, mechanical, BPharm (hons), and MSc (hons).

BITSAT 2014 will be a three-hour test consisting of four parts: physics, chemistry, English proficiency and logical reasoning and mathematics or biology (for BPharm candidates). All questions will be of multiple choice type with negative marking. The test will have a total of 150 questions, with each correct answer fetching three marks. The test will be conducted on the basis of Class 11 and 12 syllabi.

Elaborating on the new steps, Professor G Raghurama, director of BITS, Pilani, says, “This is the 10th year of the test. We have taken necessary steps to ensure that it is conducted smoothly and fairly. We are making the entire process more secure by introducing steps such as fingerprint verification of candidates and matching of a candidate’s photographs at the time of application and during the test. This year, biology students will be eligible to write the test for the pharmacy programme. Earlier, maths was required for the same. The scores will be available soon after a candidate finishes the test.”

The entire application process for BITSAT can be done online. The fee for the test is Rs. 1,900 for male candidates and Rs. 1,400 for female candidates.

The deadline to apply is February 15. Candidates should have passed Class 12 from a recognised central or state board with physics, chemistry and maths as subjects. For details, visit bitsadmission.com
