The Punjab government on Tuesday finalised all arrangements for the conduct of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled for December 13, in order to check the use of unfair means by candidates and leakage of the question paper.
To guard 333 examination centres, the education department is coordinating with civil and police administration of districts. Around 1.73 lakh candidates are expected to take the test.
Education minister Daljit Singh Cheema said that to review the arrangements made by the state government, a video conference with all deputy commissioners, SSPs and district education officers was held on Tuesday.
“All officers have been asked to ensure security and an amicable atmosphere around the examination centres so that students could appear in the test without any external pressure and fear,” said the minister, adding that the state government had resolved to conduct the test in a transparent manner.
He said the duration of each test is two and a half hours but specially-abled students would be given 50 minutes extra. The minister said that to ensure transparency and fair conduct in the examination students had been prohibited to carry pens and wristwatches with them. He said wall clocks would be installed in all examination centres. Candidates taking the test have been asked to carry only the roll number cards.
He said a nodal office in each district had been established where question papers and OMR sheets would be stored and distributed to the examination centres. He said he had instructed the DCs to depute ADCs or SDM-rank officers to be in charge of the district nodal offices concerned. He said foolproof security arrangements would be in place at all examination centres with all necessary apparatus in place, including the deputing of police officers with a minimum of SHO-rank.
