Last month, there was an uproar after Class 10 social studies textbooks were found to have shown the north eastern state as part of China.

The state government had promised corrective action. The corrections, issued to schools last week, include a new map and other corrections on dates, names and spellings.

But errors, including the board misspelling its own state, ‘Diu’ being spelt as ‘Div’ and ‘Bhubaneshwar’ as ‘Bhubaneswar’, remain.

HT has been reporting on the textbook errors since February.

“Whatever errors are there, we have tried to correct them,” said S Jadhav, chairperson of the board. “We have issued corrections and asked schools to put stickers on textbooks as well.”

Teachers claim several mistakes are uncorrected. “There are still calculation mistakes, spelling errors and questions with contradictory answers,” said Ravi D, a former teacher and parent from Bhandup.
