A lot of excitement, confusion and tension was witnessed on Tuesday as the much awaited first cut-off list of Delhi University (DU) was declared. The campus, which looked deserted about a week ago because the process of form filling had concluded, is now abuzz with aspirants accompanied by their parents, flocking to various colleges seeking admission.
Though the weather tried to play spoilsport with the scorching heat, the aspirants cooled it off with the lemony drink of banta. Those who were hungry preferred to have light snacks like bhelpuri. “One cannot eat something heavy in this heat. Bhelpuri is the perfect snack to munch on,” says Radha Puri, whose daughter made it to Miranda House College.
The students who got through the college of their choice chose to rejoice at the adjoining Kamla Nagar market. Food joints in the market such as QD’s and Chache Di Hatti were crowded with freshers. Youngsters were also seen shopping for funky clothes and accessories. “This is our peak sale season. Cotton shirts and loose pants are bestsellers,” says Ram Nath, a shopkeeper at the market. The second cut-off list will be declared on June 29.
