Four IIFT students bag salary packages of more than Rs 1 crore

Four students of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) have bagged placement offers of more than Rs. 1 crore annually ($1,50,000) this year (2015-16) — a jump of 36% when compared to last year. The highest placement offer last year was $1,10,000.
Officials said not only the highest placement offer increased this year, but the average compensation offered too saw a rise of 23.8 %, when compared to last year.
The average compensation offered last year was Rs.18.01 lakh. The highest placement offers this year have gone to four students pursuing MBA in International Business, with trade as their elective. The number of international roles offered also has gone up to 15 this year, compared to 13 last year.
At the domestic front too, the highest annual package offered was Rs. 29 lakh, a 21% hike when compared to last year. All 254 students vying for placements this year landed jobs much before the end of IIFT’s placement season. The list of firms that have hired IIFT students in large numbers this year include Cognizant Business Consulting, JP Morgan, Vodafone, Wipro, HCL and ICICI Bank, among others.
The largest recruiters have been the banking, financial services and insurance sector that offered jobs to close to 25% of the IIFT students. “The best industries from across the globe have continued to place their faith in the exceptional quality of our students. This is the result of 52 years of continued excellence in academics, supported by a vibrant alumni community,” said Surajit Mitra, director, IIFT.
The e-commerce sector also hired a bunch of IIFT students, with some notable recruiters being Flipkart, Amazon, ShopClues, CarDekho, Bluestone, Play games 24x7.
A list of first time recruiters too landed up at the IIFT campus this year to recruit students. These include both domestic and international firms like Nivea, Pernod Ricard, 3M, British Telecom, Tata Sky, Synergy Consulting, General Motors, TGI Group, IDFC Bank and many more.
This year the IIFT students were also offered jobs in sales and marketing across sectors like FMCG, pharma and healthcare, telecom, apparel retail, iron and steel manufacturing and consumer durables with marquee names like ITC, L’Oreal, 3M, Britannia, TATA Motors, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd recruiting talents from the IIFT campus.
