This time when you go to the classroom, expect new things from your teachers. They might use new techniques to rekindle your interest in studies and also impart lessons in a more interactive way.

They will also tell you how to make the best use of new text-books, help in supplementing knowledge in the books and use information technology and multimedia to help in the studies.

This is because the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is imparting training to about 300 teachers from across the country to orient them about the new ideas in teaching. These approaches have been envisaged in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005.

It is on its basis that the new syllabi and textbooks have been designed for classes I, III, VI, IX and XI from this year.

Teachers from CBSE affiliated schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas are participating in the first phase of the training programme that began on Monday and will continue till September 9, coordinator of the programme D K Bhattacharjee said.

The second phase of the training programme will be launched from the first week of July through tele-conferencing, he said. The programme would be available at 32 selected centres, including 10 centres in north-eastern states through EDUSAT network.
