The Council, which faced criticism for all-time low pass percentage of 59.48% in 2018, has registered an improvement of 11.29% this year.

“We are an examination conducting body. Our work is only to conduct a free and fair examinations and release results in time. The percentage has improved this year only because of hard labour by the students as well as the school teachers,” said JAC chairman Arvind Prasad Singh.

Unlike the CBSE board and ICSE results, boys have performed better than the girls in the examination. The boys’ pass percentage is 72.99%, while 68.67% girls passed in the examination.

As per JAC report, a total of 2,12,410 boys took the examination, out of which 1,55,054 cleared it. Similarly, of 2,25,846 girls, who appeared for the board exams, 1,55,104 came out with flying colours.

Two government residential schools- Residential High School, Netarhat and Indira Gandhi Balika High School, Hazaribag-ruled the toppers chart. Five students from each school made it to the top-10 toppers’ list.

Priya Raj of Indira Gandhi Balika High School, who sported the state topper’s crown, obtained 496 marks out of 500 in total.

The second position was grabbed by Amresh Kumar of Residential High School, Netarhat, with 99.0% marks in aggregate, while third position by Aman Kumar of the same school with 98.40% marks in aggregate.
