Students in Jaipur breathed a sigh of relief after the Central Board of Secondary Education declared the results of All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) on Monday.
Hindustan Times spoke to some of the students who have registered an impressive performance in the retest held on July 25. The Supreme Court had scrapped the May 3 AIPMT examination after a question paper was leaked and the answer sheet was circulated with the help of electronic devices.
Mudit Agarwal, who has secured an All India Rank of 13 with a score of 670 marks out of 720, credits his success to continous practice and guidance by teachers. The 17-year-old has already taken admission in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
"I would recommend at least two years of continuous practice to future aspirants. Of course, family support and guidance of teachers are important. But it is the practice which counts," said Agarwal.
Parth Sharma, 18, another student from the city, has secured an AIR 47 with a score of 650 and wishes to become a cancer specialist. He too has taken admission in AIIMS in the Capital.
"Hard work and flawless preparation are the keys to success in medical entrances. I would recommend aspirants to start preparing from Class 11 standard itself and not to wait for the last three months," said Sharma.
Ivanshi Vaijnashan, 17, claims she always had a flair for biology. The 86th rank holder gives credit to her family and teachers for her success.
"Without their support, I don't think I would have been able to give a retest with the same energy level and enthusiasm. My earlier test and retest had gone well, but I was not sure about my rank. But I am happy now," said an elated Vajinashan.
Arjun Kumar Agarwal said he found the retest tougher and was sceptic about the results. And not that the 18-year-old has bagged the 166th rank, he wants to pursue his dreams of becoming a cardiac surgeon.
"Without their support, I don't think I would have been able to give a retest with the same energy level and enthusiasm. My earlier test and retest had gone well, but I was not sure about my rank. But I am happy now," said an elated Vajinashan.
