Girls once again outperformed boys in Allahabad region in the CBSE Class 10 exams this year, registering a pass percentage of 98.63%, compared to the boys' 97.8%. In the results announced on Thursday, the region registered a pass percentage of 98.07%.
A total of 1,18,736 students had appeared in the exams this year: Of these, 39,334 were girls and 79,105 boys. Notably, 78,105 students took the school-based home examinations this year, while 40,631 opted for the board-based exams.
In Lucknow district, a total of 11,755 students appeared in the examination from 93 schools. Students of Lucknow districts have done better than students of the region: The district recorded a pass percentage of 98.49%. Here too girls outperformed boys, registering a pass percentage of 99.17% against 98% of boys. The total of 6,881 boys and 4,874 girl students from the city took part in the exams.
Among the star performers from the state, Abhishek Kumar Singh of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, scored a Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) of 10: He had injured one of his legs a few years ago while playing and it had to be amputated. Equally inspiring is the story of Ankita from RLB: She lost her father when she was in kindergarten. “Happy to score a Perfect 10. I’am sure my father would have been very happy today. But I know he is showering all his blessings on me.” Ankita, who credits all her success to her mother, dreams of becoming an engineer one day. Several other students from the school scored a Perfect 10.
More than 15 studens from the Lucknow Public College, Gomti Nagar, scored a perfect 10 on CGPA.
Ashustosh Yadav was in a feeling of euphoria when he got to know his result. Son of Sunil Kumar Yadav, a Homeguard constable in Salaikheda and Rashmi Yadav who is a teacher in a Govt. School, Ashutash faced many hurdles during his preparations. "I stay with my maternal grandfather in the city so it was a tough job for me to maintain complete mindfulness without parental affection. But despite the absence of his parents in crucial times, Ashustosh has accomplished his goal by securing an outstanding 10 CGPA. Sunil Kumar, his father was visibly gleeful and exclaimed that his son had lived up to his father's expectations. With an interest in designs and cosmic structures, Ashutosh will now take up the Science stream and has plans to become an engineer someday.
