Students applying to Delhi University’s (DU) undergraduate courses can seek admission under the subsequent cut-off list if they have missed out on the list that mentioned them.
“Sometimes, students are unable to take admission under a cut-off despite meeting the criteria due to some unavoidable reasons. This year, we have introduced a provision where a student can enrol themselves in the subsequent cut-off list provided the college has seats vacant,” said Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of students’ welfare, Delhi University.
Earlier, students were not allowed to take admission in subsequent cut-offs if they missed out on taking admission under the earlier cut-off despite meeting the criteria.
However, conditions apply to this provision — students will have to write an application to the concerned college and only after other students, whose marks fall under the current cut-off are admitted, others will be considered.
“The students will have to write an application to concerned college. Usually admissions under any cut-off take place for three days. Those who missed the admission dates of the previous cut-off will get admission on the last day. But this is only if seats are vacant,” said Tuteja.
Meanwhile, the principals of all colleges under DU met the vice-chancellor and officials of DSW to discuss about admissions.
This year, DU has decided to do away with the stream-wise cut-offs and the same was approved by the admission committee on Tuesday.
“Some principals had doubts about the cut-offs not being released stream-wise. It has already been decided that all colleges will not release stream-wise cut-offs. The admission committee also approved it on Tuesday,” said one of the officials, who attended the meeting.
