To provide a platform to discuss challenges regarding choosing a course, college and careers faced by students after Class 12, HTCampus.com organised the HTCampus.com Careers After 12th Education Fair in the Capital on July 5, 2015.
Representatives from institutes offering courses in business administration, hotel management, fashion, design, engineering and consultants for studying abroad were present at the fair. The highlight of the event was a seminar where academic experts addressed students about the career prospects after studying various subjects.
Tarundeep Singh Anand, co-founder, Global Head of Strategy and Head of Sales, Asia Pacific at FX Market Space, who started the session with insights into the lessons of business administration and management, followed by a discussion on multiple career avenues available in this field, said: “Instead of going after the conventional options, students must take up the road less travelled because that’s where the chances of success are greater” .
Vartika Nanda, HOD-department of journalism at Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, spoke about specialisations in journalism. “Check validity of certificates offered by institutes and make sure they are recognised by the government because this will make a lot of difference when you apply for jobs.”
The discussion on job opportunities in the hotel management and hospitality industry was led by experts from Ecole Hoteliere Lavasa, certified by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne of Switzerland. They highlighted that “hospitality education does not mean being restricted to hotel management jobs.” They added that hospitality education can help students acquire people skills.
Bhavna Verma, associate professor, NIFT Delhi, talked about options available to design students. “Technical knowledge amalgamated with creativity is important to make a unique product,” she said.
Experts also spoke about the course and college options abroad. Mukta Sanjeev and Deepti Dhamija from IDP Education focussed on course and college options at the undergraduate level across countries. “If you research properly, you will find that studying abroad may be an affordable and lucrative option in the long run,” they said.
