Assam Election: Kamalpur Assembly Constituency 2022

Kamalpur is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kamrup district. Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Kamalpur was held on April 1 and the result was declared on May 2.

Kamalpur assembly constituency had 1,57,921 electors in 2016, out of which 83,004 were male voters and 74,917 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.

What happened last time

In the Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Kamalpur constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 14 seats were won by the Indian National Congress, Kamalpur was one of them. The election for Kamalpur seat was comfortably won by Asom Gana Parisad's Satyabrat Kalita defeating Indian National Congress's Pranjit Choudhury by a huge margin of 36,909 votes.

88.8% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Asom Gana Parisad's Satyabrat Kalita secured a total of 78,170 votes, while Indian National Congress's Pranjit Choudhury got 41,261 votes. Independent candidate Matlebuddin Ahmed grabbed 6,882 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 58.1%, 30.7% and 5.1% respectively.

In Assam Assembly election 2011, Bharatiya Janta Party's Jadab Chandra Deka defeated Indian National Congress's Uttara Kalita by 12,147 votes.
