Suri is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Birbhum district. People of Suri voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 29 and the result was declared on May 2.
In 2016, the Suri assembly seat had 2,34,575 registered voters. Of the, 1,20,108 were male and 1,14,465 were female voters. 1.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2016, 5 candidates were contesting for Suri assembly constituency seat. Suri was one of 211 seats won by the Communist Party Of India (Marxist). All India Trinamool Congress's Asok Kumar Chattopadhyay won the election by defeating Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Dr. Ram Chandra Dome by a margin of 31,808 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.6% of votes between them. All India Trinamool Congress's Asok Kumar Chattopadhyay got a total of 94,036 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Dr. Ram Chandra Dome secured 62,228 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Joy Banerjee grabbed the third spot with 32,112 votes. The top three parties got 48.7%, 32.2% and 16.6% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Swapan Kanti Ghosh outperformed Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Abdul Gaffar by 19,117 votes.
