Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has a regular blog and millions of followers on Twitter, today joined social networking site Facebook to reach out further to his fans.
The 69-year-old launched his facebook page, which will provide information about the actor's upcoming movies, show videos, as well as exclusive pictures from his private collection.
"Facebook needs no introduction and I feel that my official Facebook fan page was long overdue. Facebook is a powerful tool that helps bring people together and allows us to embrace being a part of a larger community.
"I have been encouraged by the overwhelming reception to my tumblr blog, and this is another avenue to reach out to my fans, not only in India, but globally," Bachchan said while launching his Facebook page.
In a video posted on the page, Bachchan said it was another attempt from his side to come closer to his fans.
"I am now on Facebook.... Year after year, month after month, day after day, we just keep coming closer to each other. Lovely to have you here and we shall be seeing each other and you will be getting to know more about me and my daily activities through this wonderful medium," Bachchan said in a video message.
When we last checked, Big B's Facebook page had 784,103 likes and 126,797 were already talking about it.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has recorded a special song for the sixth season of hit game show Kaun Banega Crorepati and he says he had butterflies in his stomach while recording with Bollywood composer duo Salim-Sulaiman.
The 69-year-old actor said that the mock rehearsals for KBC has began as the show is ready to go on air from September 7."The crowning glory is the session at Salim-Sulaiman's recording studio later at night to record a song for KBC, and my extreme hesitation in doing so for it is a moment filled with immense self consciousness," Bachchan posted on his blog. KBC 2012 to be back in prime time slot
Amitabh Bachchan would be soon seen in KBC 6. Game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, to be hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan yet again, will be back in its prime time slot, channel officials said Tuesday.
"It will be a prime time show. I can't tell you the exact slot because we are in discussion we are brain storming the right time. But certainly it will be a prime time slot," Sony Entertainment Television (SET) senior vice president and marketing head Danish Khan told IANS. MORE ON KBC
