Usually, most industry folks celebrate their birthdays by big bashes. But today, on his 33rd birthday, Arjan Bajwa will donate blood at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Interestingly, the inspiration was Salman Khan who recently initiated a blood donation drive and pulled in colleagues like Aamir Khan, Kangna Ranaut and Riteish Deshmukh, along with his Dabangg team.
“We always get things on our birthday but rarely give anyone anything. I had earlier thought of feeding the poor or giving out clothes. But after Salman bhai’s drive, I felt that giving a part of myself was a more physical way of contributing to humanity,” explains Bajwa, who has requested producer-director Hema Malini to allow him to report late for the shooting of Tell Me O Khuda with Esha Deol today.
Bajwa had stopped celebrating his birthday after his father passed away three years ago. His dad used to do a lot of charity and he says his mother will be surprised.
He met Salman at the IIFA Awards earlier this year, and would like to contribute to his Being Human Foundation. “I really respect him. He unconditionally helps the poor and needy,” Bajwa enthuses.
The actor is not in a hurry to sign films. “I’m waiting to see how Crook is received, since it’s unlike Guru and Fashion,” he says. Then there is Tell Me O Khuda. “It’s fantastic working with Hemaji, who has been everyone’s dream girl. She has 40 years of experience and the aesthetic sense to make the film much better after Mayur Puri’s exit midway through,” he asserts. “Hemaji has taken the reins in her hands and I couldn’t be more delighted.”
