Bollywood ex-flames who are still friends
Bollywood has seen its share of relationships and break-ups; with actors more open about these now, find out which stars are still in touch and remain friends with their ex and which ones aren’t.
Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor have always been clear about one thing ever since their break-up — that they will continue to be friends. Though the two may have moved on and their chemistry in their next, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, may have raised a few eyebrows, both the actors are clear that there’s nothing beyond friendship between them. But while working with your ex, there’s always a chance of the romance rekindling.Ask trade analyst Amod Mehra how couples and ex-couples generate curiosity amongst audiences and he says, "It’s been the same since the time of Raj Kapoor and Nargis. When a couple comes together after a break-up, the curiosity is even higher. And yes, there are chances of the relationship happening again, but you see, times have changed. And frankly in an industry like this, it’s better to stay friends than be enemies."
Distributor and exhibitor Akshaye Rathi says, "More than anything else, it’s the perception of the audience that makes the chemistry between actors click. Irrespective of whether the actors are in a relationship with each other or not, pure acting talent can create fireworks on the silver screen."Having said that, it’s not easy to maintain an emotional distance. Relationship counsellor Shweta Parekh says, "Sometimes, it is safer to stay friends with the ex to make sure that your facts known to him or her are still kept secret and vice-versa. Some people prefer to have a mutually agreed break-up without emotional baggage." She adds, "At times, the situation demands that it is best to break up and move on. But there can always be an uncertainty of the consequences, so it’s better to keep all the options open. Some people believe that you never know when you may need them again."
