Ranbir Kapoor called Alia Bhatt ‘tyrant’ as she said she'd be upset if he doesn't let her produce his directorial debut

Alia Bhatt has reacted to Ranbir Kapoor's statement that he wants to direct a film, which his wife Alia Bhatt should produce.

A few days ago, while promoting his latest release Shamshera, Ranbir Kapoor expressed his desire to one day direct a film and even hinted that his wife, actor-producer Alia Bhatt, can produce it. Now, Alia has responded to this, saying she’d be very upset if Ranbir does not let her produce the film he plans to direct as they have discussed it.

Alia Bhatt is turning producer with her upcoming film Darlings, which she is starring in as well. The Netflix film also stars Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma. On Monday, during the trailer launch of the film, Alia was asked about Ranbir’s statement about directing a film and she said, “We did discuss it. I actually told him that if you don’t make me produce it, I’ll be very upset! I told him if you don’t want to take me as an actor, that’s totally fine. He told me, ‘No no, I need you, you’re a tyrant’.”

In an earlier interview, Ranbir Kapoor had told Filmibeat, “During the lockdown, I wrote a story, which I liked very much. But I don’t have that skill to go and share that story with people and make a film with them. But yes, direction is more on my wish list than production. Well, my wife is a producer and is a very good producer, so maybe she can produce my film.”

Ranbir and Alia will be seen together on screen for the first time later this year in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The fantasy epic has been five years in the making and will finally release on September 9. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy.
