Actor Sunny Deol has been busy promoting his new film, Batwara 1947. For the same, the veteran star undertook a massive nationwide city tour along with the film’s cast and director Rajkumar Santoshi. One of the final stops in the tour was Kolkata, where he interacted with fans at an event. But apart from some Batwara talks, Sunny stunned fans with a rather unbelievable crossover. The actor obliged a fan, recreating a dialogue from the animated show Oggy and the Cockroaches, which was dubbed in ‘his voice’ originally.

In videos shared from the stage at the Kolkata event for Batwara 1947, Sunny addresses a large, packed auditorium when a fan asks him to say a line. Explaining the context, the fan tells the actor about Oggy and the Cockroaches. “There is a line in it in your voice, sir, where the character says, ‘Oye main papa hoon, duniya ka papa (I am the daddy, world’s daddy). Please can you say that in your style.”
Sunny first smiles at the request and says, “I haven’t watched it, but you are saying he says, ‘main papa hoon, duniya ka papa’. So let me try.” The actor then recreated the line in Hindi and Punjabi in his signature bold style to loud cheers from the crowd.

Helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Sunny Deol as a Muslim man who moves to Pakistan during Partition, only to find a Hindu woman, played by Shabana Azmi, still living in his new home. As tensions rise, he takes responsibility for protecting her while keeping his family safe. The film also stars Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare, and Kanikka Kapur. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film has released in theatres today (August 14).
