The actor said in a recent statement that “it wasn’t pleasant or nice but I respect that it’s a procedure that has to be followed when entering the United States”.

However, protests against the incident continue in several parts of the country, with Congress workers even burning effigies of US President Barack Obama in UP.

While on one hand, his friends like Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra have expressed outrage, some other celebs are dismissing the affair as ‘no big deal.’ Cricketer Harbhajan Singh said, “This is a normal thing… it happens to my colleagues in the Indian team too. It happens all over the world.”

The incident has even caused a war of words between Cabinet Minister Ambika Soni and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. About SRK’s detention, Soni suggested a tit-for-tat approach towards the Americans visiting India. “I have always felt — even when I was frisked there — that the way they frisk us we should do the same for them from here.” Responding to Soni’s comment, Kapur said SRK should be responsible and defuse the situation.
