Kingdom of Dreams, India’s first entertainment destination, may also soon come to Mumbai. Currently only in Gurgaon, the concept hub was an idea that germinated 15 years ago in the mind of Viraf Sarkari, the director of event management company Wizcraft. A holiday in Las Vegas became the inspiration, and now, Sarkari can’t wait for the hub to spread across the world.
“Our vision is to set up Kingdom of Dreams in metros in India and then in places such as Singapore, the Middle East, and, finally, Las Vegas. Mumbai is definitely on our list,” he says. But Sarkari is clear that he doesn’t just want another architectural monument. “We already have the Taj Mahal to be proud of. I wanted to create something that represents the culture, tradition, and heritage of India.”
Kingdom of Dreams started operations in Gurgaon earlier this month after two straight years of teamwork. Sarkari says, “Our auditorium will be India’s answer to the Phantom of the Opera.” Besides 34 outlets, restaurants, and 354 handpicked dishes, there are also handicrafts stores, massage centres, and an artificial beach.
Omung Kumar, art director of Kingdom of Dreams, insists: “There’s a lot of space in Mumbai. We should get at least eight to 10 acres of land. It depends on both government permission and whether it’s worth spending that much,” he says.

Sarkari says that the concept will not work in the outskirts of a city: “In Mumbai, a good location is the Bandra Kurla Complex.” He adds that since it will boost tourism, the government needs to lend its support to concretise the dream.
