Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was attacked by an inmate with a self-made shank in a prison yard in the morning, according to Los Angeles Times. While the motive for the stabbing currently remains unknown, he was rushed to a nearby civilian hospital in Bakersfield.

The Lady of Namek rapper is in a stable condition and his injuries were non-life-threatening, according to the outlet. In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of three felonies: assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, and discharging a firearm with negligence, per Independent.

Although he is serving 10 years behind bars, the rapper is eligible for parole in 2029. During his trial, the Hot Girl Summer hitmaker, born Megan Pete, testified that Lanez shot at her feet from the back while she was walking away from an SUV they had been riding after a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home.

More recently, Megan had her protection order, which she obtained in November 2024, against Lanez extended to 2030. According to the outlet, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom granted the extension after she alleged that the rapper had been harassing her from prison.

While filing for the protective order last year, Megan told the court, “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it” and described Lanez as a “violent and dangerous criminal.” Meanwhile, the Say It hitmaker recently teased an upcoming album in an Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos.
