Came across an online ad lately that claims to organise a date with Bollywood divas? This is what lured a Delhi-based real estate agent Akshay Malhotra (name changed on request). “I called up this agency and was suggested a coffee date with an item girl for R2 lakhs,” says Malhotra, who met the girl in a south Mumbai hotel. “When I met her, I figured that she wasn’t the real heroine. But she was good-looking so I didn’t complain.”
But not everyone is happy about meeting a ‘fake’ after paying a bomb. “A close friend was promised to meet a leading starlet but was presented with a duplicate,” says Avinash Rathore, a trader. “He spent a few hours conversing with this girl. Only later, he discovered in a newspaper that she was shooting abroad.”
A Mumbai-based director says, “A Delhi businessman paid R80,000 for meeting a Bollywood starlet after seeing an ad on the net. The meeting never happened and the agent disappeared.”
When we asked a male colleague to call a few Mumbai-based dating agents, they agreed to provide ‘real’ actors for dating and named some Bollywood divas who are available for a date. The price ranges from R2 lakhs to R18 lakhs, depending on ‘how big the actor is.’ When asked if she was a real actor or a duplicate, one agent said, “We don’t cheat. first meet, then pay.” Another agent demanded to be paid in advance for arranging a date with an actor.
“Humara commission humare haath me dena aur baaki ka paisa heroine ko dene ka,” he said.
So, who are these girls, cheating these Bollywood-crazed Delhi-ites? Amrit Kapoor, who supplies duplicates to the film industry, says, “There is no dearth of work for our girls and they would never have time for casual dates. Also it may be wrong to call them look-alikes. They do bear a striking resemblance to particular actors, have the same body structure, and wear similar clothes and hairstyle. But they are certainly not Siamese twins and cannot pose as the real ones in reality.”
