Television actor Karan Wahi is currently facing his fears once again on Rohit Shetty’s stunt-based reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi 15. In the very first week, the contestants faced a ‘pain auction’, where they had to endure the pain of being shot with a pellet gun. The contestants suffered severe back injuries from the rubber bullets. Now, in an interview with Zoom, Karan Wahi has opened up about the impact of the stunt.
Karan Wahi reveals how Pellet Gun stunt on KKK 15 impacted him
Karan revealed that the show’s host, Rohit Shetty, who is known for never encouraging contestants to quit, advised them to bow out if they could not handle the pain. He added, “Because this is not fun and games. This could actually scare you and injure you in ways that you wouldn't want to. Eventually, we had just begun the season. So, you don't want to get into the show or go through the show with a lot of pain. After the first bullet hit, my mind went numb. My body was taking the blows, but I think beyond a point of time, I went numb.”
The actor added, “I couldn't hear anybody. I would just hear someone getting shot next to me. And I probably knew that it would now come to me. When I think about it, what took me through the stunt, I really don't know. I don't know if it would be given to me another time, I would ever be able to do it. I never thought it would be that bad.”
After the stunt aired, Karan shared pictures showing the injuries on his back caused by the rubber bullets. Deepika Dhar, CEO of Banijay Asia, the team behind KKK 15, defended the show’s safety protocols in an interview with Hindustan Times. She said, “It's, not at all brutal. Well, there is an element of fear. It's called fear factor for a reason… but this is a show that is in its 15th or the 16th season now. We don't do this in India. We do this in an international location where all the checks and balances and safety procedures and protocols are followed to the absolute maximum.”
