A lifestyle exhibition in the Capital sees a royal melange of sorts, as it has members of some royal families of India and Nepal coming together. The exhibition, Royal Fables, which begins today, presents products created by present day scions of leading Indian royal families.
Fourteen designers of royal lineage have re-created the rich heritage of design in a contemporary avatar through saris, jewels, beaded jewellry, wildlife sketches, paintings and much more at this exhibition curated by Anshu Khanna, a media professional.
"I will be exhibiting chiffon saris with exquisite thread work, sequins, zari and more. These are the designs that were worn by my mother and aunts, and were the trendsetters," says Rani Sushma Kumari of Sahaspur Bilari. The price range of her collection is Rs.10,000 onwards. "Miniature paintings are a big part of the culture at Kishangarh. I have revived this art form through an initiative called Studio Kishangarh. We have given a contemporary touch to these paintings at our studio," says princess Vaishnavi Kumari of Kishangarh.
Along with the Kishangarh miniature paintings, hand painted cushion covers, bed covers, dupattas, kurtas and much more will also be on display. “I have bought with me the iconic Tanka and Pauwa paintings from Nepal. The Tanka paintings will be exhibited for the first time in India,” says Rana Raja Gautam of Nepal. The price of the Tanka paintings is Rs.40,000 onwards and the Pauwa paintings begin at Rs.1 lakh. While the originals are only for display, the copies would be on sale. The proceeds will be donated to Khushi, an NGO.
