Jeans are everyone’s all-time favourite outfit. And when it comes to choosing a pair, cost, fit and even the brand all matter. While some prefer to flaunt the latter, which can cost anywhere between Rs 2,000 to Rs 15,000, others are more interested in going for the right fit at more pocket-friendly prices — Rs 250 to Rs 500.

Fashionistas in the Capital say that stitched or customised denims — most of them from Mohan Singh Place, Connaught Place — are good when worn during school or college years.

Sudhanshu Aggarwal, 26, an engineer said, “When I was in school, I used to wear stitched denims because they are cheaper than branded ones. But I feel branded denims, especially international brands, are more stylish and have better quality fabric.”

But college student Shruti Agarwal, 22, says, “I like branded denims because they add attitude to your personality. Also as they say, fashion is about being comfortable and stylish. I feel only brands can give it.”

When asked about the how to make a choice between being stylish and being cost effective, designer Vijay Arora said, “Odd-sized people can go for stitched or customised denims. But [those with] a normal body structure should look for branded ones as they have more style, whereas stitched have less variety. Plain denims look boring and out of fashion.”

Shop owner Karan Gulati of Karan Collections, Sarojini Nagar said, “We’ve all brands with us but people ask for imported, customised denims. They say these give a better fit and are available at much lesser prices than branded ones.”
