The milliner-stylist has been commissioned by a city store to create installation pieces around their property, aimed at piquing customers’ curiosity. “I was approached by the brand about three weeks ago, since they were launching their blog and wanted me to style their lookbook,” Chavan reveals. “They asked me to create installations at the store, but I didn’t want to just put up my own work. So I decided to create art using their products.”

The piece de resistance is a bridal dress with a long train, made out of finished jeans, which Chavan has constructed onto a mannequin. Her work can be seen across the store, with mannequins suspended from the ceiling draped in denim.

“We had two nights to finish it, since we weren’t allowed to work in the store while it was open. We used fashion techniques like colour-blocking, layering and print-on-print in the installations,” she adds.

Chavan’s work is on display at the Bestseller store at Linking Road, Santa Cruz (W)
