Fashion for men at Lakme Fashion Week 2014

The focus may be on women’s wear for most designers, but that doesn't mean men are being ignored. At Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014, there have been a wide range of trends for the man who loves to dress.

At Manish Malhotra's show, there was plenty of colour, with tonal embroidery and layered jackets. Tarun Tahiliani displayed similar silhouettes in muted shades.



Just before Tahiliani's show, Narendra Kumar presented his range that is inspired by the work of artist Franz Kline. His double-breasted jackets were sportier and visibly shorter in length for summer.



He also played with elements like mesh overlays, embroidered shirt collars and long shawl collars with mid-length coats and sherwanis.







Of course, there has been plenty for the adventurous man too.

Those who dare to wear colour can take a cue from Quirkbox, where pop orange, flamingo pink, rainforest green and bright indigo ruled the ramp.



As for edgy silhouettes, take a cue from Dhruv Kapur’s (of DRVV) theory that men have become predictable, and the best thing they could do is to start wearing women’s wear.



Kapur recommends asymmetric cuts, silk tuxedos and light jersey tops in chiffon as must-haves for summer.
