The most unerring way to get back at the fashion police that haunts you with handcuffs, is with cuffed ankle heels. These heels — trending faster than any trend — are the latest entry in celebrity wardrobes. Hollywood fashion icons, such as Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, model Miranda Kerr and reality TV star Kim Kardashian, among others, have been spotted flaunting their ankle cuffed pairs.Closer home, actor Kareena Kapoor was recently seen wearing crystal embellished, cuffed ankle heels by Jimmy Choo. Other Bollywood actors, such as Sushmita Sen, Kalki Koechlin and Malaika Arora Khan, have also been spotted in these heels. “You can wear them up with cropped pants or jeans. They also go really well with short dresses,” says Deepika Mehra of Vanilla Moon.Footwear designer Bharat Panwar says, “Team these with knee length dresses, tunics, airline or fitted skirts. Denim lovers can wear them with fitted leggings and jeans. Wear bright coloured ones with denims for casual wear or with flowing and fitted dressings for dinners and parties.”Guide to wear the cuffed ankle styleThe cuffed ankle strap meant is to be flaunted. So, no point in wearing them with clothes that cover the ankles. The heels should accentuate legs. For a casual outing, one can team them up with rompers, jumpsuits, shorts, A- line skirts and capris. Bejewelled cuffed ankle sandals look great with a Little Black Dress.People with petite figure and thick legs should avoid wearing this trend due to their fattening effect. It might take a few inches from your height and would make you look even shorter. Avoid wearing them with an Indian attire and other embellished outfits.Another trick to counteract the leg-shortening effect is to match the colour of the shoe with the colour of your leg. Any colour that reduces contrast between the shoe and your skin should help.
