How to buy the right running shoes
There are three types of feet — normal arch, low arch or flat feet and high arch. Determine yours using the Wet Test.
Wet the bottom of each foot and stand straight on a paper bag. After a minute, step off and observe the imprint.

Normal arch: If your foot imprint has a distinct curve along the inside of the foot with less than half the width of the foot.

Flat feet: If there is not much of a curve along the inside of your foot and the imprint is of almost the entire foot, then buying just any running shoe can cause injuries.happy feetHigh arch: The imprint of your foot will show a thin band between your heel and toe. It is important to re-measure your feet periodically because running will cause the arches to gradually fall.

What to buy: People with normal arch feet can choose from a variety of running shoes. Those with a low arch must look for the word motion-control or stability on your running shoe box. You may also need to wear orthotics (custom-made shoe inserts that correct foot issues). High arch feet people should look for flexible shoes with a soft midsole that absorbs shock. Look for ‘flexible’ or ‘cushioned’ running shoes. Consult your doctor to find out your type.
