‘I don’t like walking the ramp’

She’s an unconventional pick for a showstopper, but Konkona Sen Sharma managed to walk down the ramp in about a 'kilo of jewellery' for Amrapali at the India International Jewellery Week, looking like a pro.

“I don’t like walking the ramp. I was so scared because I’m very clumsy and thought I was going to fall,” she laughs, adding, “I saw Kirron Kher and Ila Arun sitting in the front row and I apparently waved to them, but I was so nervous that I don’t even remember this.” True to her personality, Sharma eschewed the obvious route and opted to wear her own sari.

“In all probability, it was a Fab India sari,” she says. “I was determined not to wear a blingy sari, so I brought my own along. Luckily they agreed.”

Since the look was ornate bridal wear, did wedding bells start ringing in her head? “I’m not hung up on getting married,” she groans. “But when that happens, my look will be very low key and I’ll probably borrow something from my mother or grandmother.”
