So, the Couture Week crossed its third day on Thursday and the day was filled with bling, bling and more bling.

So, the Couture Week crossed its third day on Thursday and the day was filled with bling, bling and more bling. Manav Gangwani at his showing made sure that all that glitter is crystallised elements of Swarovski.

I haven’t seen so much use of crystals by any other designer — the glitter went all the way through his collection. He attempted to make his collection look kind of avant gard’ish with interesting headgears, spiral attachments and shoulder extensions. The presentation too was made in a grand fashion with a turning backdrop and golden dust falling from the room.

Couture Week

The Grand played a perfect host to the event and I felt that the hotel is apt enough to handle a controlled crowd such as that of this event. All that was offered by the hotel matched the luxurious theme attached to the event. Pallavi Jaikishan made an interesting presentation.

Some felt that outfits might not have been fit enough for any one to wear. But, I felt that at an event such as this, the wearability factor takes a back seat and creativity comes to the forefront. But, there were wearable pieces too.

With the fashion calendar being full now I think we can look forward to an action packed year every year. Couture week was the missing link and now that it’s in action here, one can surely hope for a fully creative calendar through the year.
