Pippa, the new style icon
While everyone one was taking note of Kate Middleton and her style, it was her younger sister, Philippa Middleton who managed to emerge as a new icon for simplistic style with her girl-next-door dresses and effortless charm.
While everyone one was taking note of Kate Middleton and her style as she tied the knot with Prince William of UK recently, it was her younger sister, Philippa Middleton, 27, who managed to emerge as a new icon for simplistic style with her girl-next-door dresses and effortless charm.
Better known as ‘Pippa’, she has completely surprised the fashionistas and critiques with her elegant and understated style. During the wedding ceremony Pippa stunned everyone with her ivory Alexander McQueen gown with a cowl style neckline. She again managed to grab the eyeballs when she chose to wear an emerald green Temperly gown at the evening reception.
The first appearance that both sisters made after the royal wedding too, impressed style watchers. They chose high street brand, Zara instead of any designer wear. Designer Anjana Bhargav says, “Pippa is the new style icon now. She looks elegant and comfortable in what she wears just like her sister, Kate. The girls have proved that it’s not hi-end brands but an eye for good clothes and a down-to-earth mind-set that makes or breaks the look.”
Stylist Manjaree Jindal points out another interesting aspect about Pippa’s sense of style. “Pippa’s clothes were apt for all the occasions. Also, keeping in mind that she will be in the public eye, she wore clothes in sync with the royal family tradition — simple yet sophisticated. At all the events, she hasn’t worn anything overtly sexy, which could have taken away the limelight from her sister. It seems, the two sisters talk a lot about the fashion, which clearly shows in their appearances,” says Jindal.
The secret to Pippa’s appealing dressing style seems to be in keeping things non-fussy and non-blingy. Designer Payal Jain points out, “Pippa has probably inherited her style from her mother and Kate. People relate to their style which is non-blingy and non-fussy, something which is wearable and comfortable,” says Jain.
More on Pippa Middleton

In 2008, Pippa took a job with Table Talk, a company based in London that organises events.
She was reported in 2010 to be dating the City trader and former England cricketer Alex Loudon.
Cop the chic look
Layering wise: A great way to incorporate the simplistic chic look is to layer your outfit. If you are wearing a sexy top, throw a smart blazer to balance the look. Pippa has often been seen wearing a jacket over her dresses to ensure the look is never in-your-face.
Slow on accessory: While adding a chunky belt or a statement neckpiece is a good idea to enhance a look, if you want a restrained look just go for a pair of diamond studs and skip any other bling. Adding a bracelet may be a good idea but don’t mix too many elements.
