Regalia and retro: Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week

From chic minimalism to unhinged boho and flapper vibe — day 2 was for a niche bride.

Breathtaking jewels, a riot of colours and a lot of star power was on display on day 2 of Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 in association with Azva. The day started with a taste of regalia, thanks to Meera and Muzaffar Ali’s understated yet classy showcase, laced with old-world charm. The closing show of the day was although different — replacing the subtle charm with a flurry of hues, lots of shimmer and a big dose of Great Gatsby chic with a desi twist. Designers Rina Dhaka and Jyotsna Tiwari thus ended the day amid a lot of cheer from a packed house.

Meera & Muzaffar Ali
This collection is perfect for a bride with a minimalistic, classy style. Pastel hues: cream, shell pink, lilac and peach with a dash of bold red, black, bronze and gold dominated the ramp. Embellished palazzos teamed with anarkalis gave an interesting twist to the usual bridalwear. The kundan chokers, maang tikka and passa were understated yet striking.

Rina Dhaka
Pop hues, bursts of glitter and quirky prints dominated the ramp for this collection. Sheer, sequinned saris and dupattas with ruffled hemlines, were a fun variation of the usual bridal outfits. Strapless mirrorwork cholis and sheer bundcollared blouses were also interesting. Though the patchwork seemed a tad incoherent at times, the collection perfectly showcased the sensibilities of a boho chic bride.
