Fashion designer Sanjana Jon opened her first ever store in Aamouage in New Delhi under the label of Sanjana Jon. The collection that essentially offers bridal and evening wear supports the cause of the girl child and is meant to spread awareness about it. "I believe in fashion with heart. And everything I have ever done has been for a cause," said the designer.
The showstopper Shibani Kashyap wore a bridal ensemble put together by Sanjana Jon and Shreenath Jewellers. "Doing something for a cause adds so much more meaning to life and I totally support this noble cause," said Shibani Kashyap, who recently launched a new album called My Free Spirit.
Sanjana designs women’s ethnic and retro wear, which are designed for Hollywood stars, Indian film Industry and also for Miss India, Miss Universe, Miss World competitions or wedding ensembles for celebrities. The collection at present caters to the elite with shirts starting at around Rs 5000 and bridal wear at around Rs 75,000. However, Jon intends to come up with more designs and affordable prices for the college-going crowd soon.
Jon’s signature collection includes lehengas, sarees, salwar kameez, kurtis and Indo-western wear. Models donned a variety of dresses at the do, ranging from heavy bridal and traditional wear to evening dresses and party wear. The men wore simple formal shirts in rich fabric with sequined designs. Jon herself was dressed in an ornate pink dress.
The established designer has also worked with Tihar jail inmates to provide them with jobs when they come out of prison and to enable production in the process. “The main purpose is to build confidence in these inmates,” said Jon, who continues to work on this project.

{{/usCountry}}Sanjana’s launch received a huge response from socialites across the city, cramming the posh store. She is soon expected to open stores in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Jon also announced a tour of six cities with Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez to spread more awareness. In this tour, the designer and her crew will be informing slum dwellers and sex-workers about saving the girl child as well as AIDS prevention. This tour will start from June 25 to July 5.
