Saturday and Sunday’s Eid festivities in Bollywood proved a formidable fashion display, with star-packed get-togethers rivalling even the most illustrious of runway shows. Underwhelmed, we most definitely were not. In fact, the multiple celeb celebrations had some of our favourite celebrities turning up in their finest ethnic Indian wear.
There was no shortage of meticulously styled women in attendance at Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan Sharma, veteran actor Shabana Azmi and jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali’s dinner parties and brunches. Actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif looked pretty in pale pink, television actor Mouni Roy and Athiya Shetty looked magical in their ivory and gold ensemble, while actors Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Dia Mirza took our breath away with their day-time cotton kurtas paired with shararas and coordinated dupattas.
These stars and their glam squads put in ample effort, and everyone looked lovely. If we had to narrow it down, however, we’d say these eight looks stole the spotlight as our favourites of the bunch. Take a look at the Bollywood-inspired traditional Eid looks you can try for your next festive outing:
Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif
There’s something about pale pink. This delicate end of the colour spectrum is soft and flattering, but doesn’t reach the clawing level of bubblegum. Jacqueline Fernandez and Katrina Kaif prove with their looks that whether covered in sequins and flowers or kept simple, these are princess-worthy hues. Katrina’s wearing Manish Malhotra.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Dia Mirza
We’d argue that besides looking fabulous, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Dia Mirza are doing a public service with their easy-breezy Eid looks. Not only are they reminding us how effortless they are — they’re also proving that a cotton kurta embellished with gota work and paired with a pallazzo/sharara and a coordinated dupatta is the perfect day-time festive look for women of all age and sizes. Dia’s wearing dRzya by Ridhi.
Mouni Roy and Athiya Shetty
Mouni Roy and Athiya Shetty’s ivory and gold ensembles showed off their glowing skin, helping them shine like the diamond they are. Proof: Mouni Roy looks stunning in her honey kamdani lehenga with chikankari jaal dupatta from designer Anjul Bhandari. The sparkly sharara made Athiya Shetty’s otherwise conservative look feel glamourous and a classic silhouette feel fresh. In other words, it’s magic! She’s wearing Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Seriously, she radiates!
Sonakshi Sinha and Divya Khosla
Sonakshi Sinha’s Manish Malhotra anarkali proved elegant, ethereal, and a breath of fresh air. Sonakshi was a pure ray of sunshine in this sophisticated design. Film producer Divya Khosla also struck a chord in this charming Akanksha Gajria lehenga with a beautiful crystal embroidered dupatta. This multi-colour look was pure fun.
