Surily's shot at the bold bride

Celebrity designer Surily Goel's new truosseau line is a blend of traditional and modern hues, writes Avantika Kukreti.

With the wedding season in full bloom, celebrity designer Surily Goel has unveiled her trousseau line, which has exquisite designs for not only the bride-to-be but also for her near and dear ones.

Says Surily, "The bright and festive colour palate and obsequious dress silhouettes make this collection very different from my earlier ones. The collection is more timeless."

Surily's bridal range consists not only of saris and lehengas for D–day but also of very modern, well-fitted outfits for evening functions like the cocktail, sangeet and mehendi ceremony.

An exceptional element of her trousseau line is the paneling—the lehenga has a sixteen-panel ghagra, which is fitted till the hips, giving it a contemporary look. The feminine kurtis again sport a sixteen panel yoke with resham embroidery.

Embroidered elegance
Another USP of Surily’s bridal range is the unconventional embroidery. Instead of using traditional motifs, Surily has stuck to geometric designs combined with a little ruffle at the hem making the garments more feminine, classy and in sync with the latest trends.

Colour Code
Surily’s collection flaunts a lot of red hues for the lehengas and a combination of red, black and nude shades for the saris and kurtis.

Says the designer, "In terms of colours I have used lots of red and black, as I believe that while red is the most preferred choice for a wedding function, black adds the extra glam touch, perfect for a night function like the cocktail or sangeet.
