Actor Katrina Kaif’s desperate bid to shed off her cutesy Barbie-style dressing and stick to the newfound sexy Sheila image seems to have backfired.

The actor chose to wear a more mature Grecian-drape short dress by designer Monisha Jaisingh at a press conference in Delhi on Thursday, but thanks to the breezy drapes and unflattering camera angles, Kat ended up looking like she has just added oodles of weight around her waistline. The billowy fall of the dress made it look like she had dashed off to the conference straight from the sets of Sheila Ki Jawani, where she gyrated in a satin bedsheet.

Designer Falguni Peacock says, “A Grecian drape dress is very comfortable and may be a great choice for a casual lunch, but knowing that you will be photographed, you need to exercise caution. Katrina could have worn a more fitted dress to show off her fabulous curves.”

Kat’s resort style short dress also seemed a unsuitable for Delhi’s weather. Designer Payal Jain says, “If the occasion is formal, a longer dress is better. It is also important to be aware of how you are being photographed. In a conference, you will be photographed from all angles and that is when the drapes may make you look wobbly.”

However Designer Rocky S, who styled the look, says, “It was meant to be minimal, and not in-your-face sexy.”
