Even after five years of its formation, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) does not have a logo that signifies its identity.

Although former MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal had taken some initiatives in this direction, not much progress has been made after the initial efforts. The civic body’s area of jurisdiction has been expanding.

Asked about the progress in this front, MCG commissioner PC Meena said, “We will finalise a logo in the next 20 days.”

Residents are not happy with the delay. “A logo is more than just a symbol. It should reflect the upwardly mobile character of the city. Gurgaon has the third highest per capita income in India after Chandigarh and Mumbai. Over the past 25 years the city has undergone rapid development and construction,” said a resident of New Gurgaon.

Meanwhile, voices from within the civic body said that the MCG is sitting on a goldmine considering the revenue it collects from Gurgaon, but it has been lethargic at best to decide on something as basic as a logo. “Even after inviting designs from the public, they couldn’t decide on a logo,” said a senior official.
