Around 100 members of the Sunehra Apna Ghar Co-operative Housing Society, which was launched in the nineties, raised slogans and carried placards against the developer.

Buyers of Spirewoods project that has been delayed for years also protested against the delay in their projects and the poor condition of the existing structure.

“We’ve paid almost 80-90% of the total price of the apartment and we are yet to see any progress. The builder keeps making frivolous promises and keeps on extending the completion date,” said Rakesh Saluja, member of the Sunehra housing society. While the construction of the project has been going on for almost a decade, only 60% work has been completed.

The flats were to be ready and up for possession by 2008 but are not ready even today.

As the matter was listed in the district grievances committee meeting held on Thursday, the Haryana CM heard the issue and directed the authorities to register a case of fraud against the accused de facto president of Sunhera Apna Ghar Co-operative Society located of Sector 55.

The assistant registrar of co-operative department, after conducting an enquiry into the matter, said that in the L-form available with them, the society has 50 members while the accused president had made 150 members. It was told that even after 10 years, the status of construction is just 60%. This society was allotted by Huda and when the file was demanded, it could not be found in the record room of Huda, for which the Estate Officer-2 has got FIR registered.

The directions by the CM have given the distressed residents a ray of hope. “We wish to resolve this issue as soon as possible and hope that the authorities take appropriate action against the builder,” said Yogesh Huja, a protester.
