Auto driver arrested for attempt to rape

A 25-year-old auto- rickshaw driver was ar rested for attempting to rape a passenger after she boarded his auto for Vasant Kunj from Gurgaon on Monday. According to the police, the victim (20), a Nepal national had visited her relatives place in Gurgaon and at around 10am she boarded an auto rickshaw to travel back to Delhi.

A 25-year-old auto- rickshaw driver was ar rested for attempting to rape a passenger after she boarded his auto for Vasant Kunj from Gurgaon on Monday.

An attempt to rape case was registered against the auto driver at DLF City Phase - 1 police station on Monday afternoon.

According to the police, the victim (20), a Nepal national had visited her relatives place in Gurgaon and at around 10am she boarded an auto rickshaw to travel back to Delhi.

ACP (crime) Rajesh Kumar said, “The driver took the auto to an isolated spot in Faridabad. But the woman managed to escape from the auto-rickshaw driver’s clutches and informed the police control room.”

Within a few hours police was able to nab the driver who confessed to the crime, said the police.

The auto-rickshaw driver was identified as Anjum Ali, who was a resident of West Bengal, and had been living in a rented accommodation in Nathupur village since the past one year.
