Both the sides decided to identify and quantify Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students, so that they could be sent to government schools, government-aided and the remaining ones to private institutions.

Nearly 52 representatives of schools affiliated to CBSE, Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and Haryana Board attended the meeting along with the district education officer.

The representatives said the government should take their views into consideration so that the proper policies and directions are formulated before arbitrary orders are issued.

It was decided that schools would support genuine policies and oppose unjust orders.

The representatives condemned the fact that SPs in all districts would be made members of the committee to enforce Rule-134A of the Haryana Education Act.

“It was decided that a core group of HPSC schools will tabulate the objections and send it to the education department for onward submission to the education department. This way, necessary changes can be introduced in the Act,” said Col Kr Pratap Singh, president, Haryana Progressive School Conference (HPSC).

Under the section, it is compulsory for all school managements to accommodate 25% EWS students, chosen on the basis of merit.

Besides, the fees would be compensated by the remaining 75% students.

The school managements protested against the move, saying the fees of the remaining students would be revised by 33%.
