To ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing the bustling Old Delhi road at village Dundahera near the Kapashera border, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is all set to construct its first foot over bridge (FOB).
The move will benefit the residents of Saraswati Vihar, Udyog Vihar (Phase 1), besides visitors to Fun’n’Food Village situated along the Old Delhi road.
“We will send the FOB’s detailed project report to the head office at Chandigarh for approval. An FOB needs to be constructed at the stretch as a large number of people cross it putting their lives at risk,” said Ashok Sangwan, MCG commissioner.
The total cost of the FOB would be nearly Rs. 2 crore. However, it would not have an escalator.
Meanwhile, residents have hailed the move.
“We daily cross the road amidst heavy traffic flow while putting our lives in danger. We will use the FOB and not disturb the movement of vehicles,” said SN Yadav, a resident.
Sources said the MCG was planning to construct as many as 14 FOBs at various vulnerable spots across the city, including
Sadar Bazar, Atul Kataria Chowk, Sukhrali, Mini Secretariat, Railway road, Pataudi road etc.
“The corporation is already working on the project. The FOB is likely to be constructed on build operate and transfer basis,” said MCG commissioner Sangwan.
