City police to probe diamond necklace theft case

The Gurgaon police have taken over the case of a stolen diamond necklace on the Metro that took place in April 2012. According to the police, Mukesh Rai, a resident of Mumbai, runs a jewellery shop there.

In April 2012, Rai had come to Gurgaon to take a jewellery order from Gurgaon jewellers. After reaching Huda City Centre Metro station, he found that his gold studded diamond necklace worth Rs 3.5 lakh was missing.

After the incident , Rai complained to the security staff at the metro, following which the complaint was filed with the Delhi police. Later, Rai dashed off several letters to the Delhi police from Mumbai to keep a track of the case.

On Monday, the Delhi police had handed over the case to the Gurgaon police owing to the area being under the latter’s jurisdiction, said the police. The metro station police said, “A case has been filed against unidentified persons for the theft. We will investigate the CCTV footage of the metro along with the victim.”
