City prodigies develop mobile apps

The students, screened through a rigorous test on mobile application ideas and logical ability, attended a four-week ‘Mining Future Prodigies’ (MFP) programme conducted by city-based multinational IT firm Hughes Systique Corporation (HSC).

At the end of the programme that spanned over May 28-June 28, the young prodigies came up with four applications, namely, Go Sappy — an application to manage human’s mood by displaying one’s achievements when the person is in a bad mood; Edustudular — a study application that enables users to manage their time table and act as a ready reckoner for formulae; Right On Q — an application that helps users install, update and uninstall other android applications from Google Play Store based on his or her need and Text Andris — an SMS application that enables the user to schedule the SMS based on pre-provisioned user defined rules.

The students, who were supported by IT experts, are studying at various schools in classes ranging from 9 to 12. Taran Chanana (16), a Class 10 student of DPS, Sector 45 who participated in the programme, said having a prior knowledge of Java that is part of the classroom curriculum helped while working for the MFP project.
